To make your holidays in Sardinia at the Casa Marmida agritourism more enjoyable, we have selected for you some interesting leisure proposals in different locations, such as a trip to the “Parco della Sardegna in miniatura” – literally the “Park of Sardinia in miniature”, Barumini and the Giara plateau.
With its area of about 50.000 square metres, the Park of Sardinia in miniature offers a miniature reproduction of fifty Sardinian monuments, as well as a reconstruction of the nuragic structures and the human settlements on the island during the Iron Age.
In this place, there are objects, animated characters as well as exhibits and models of the customs and traditions prevalent among those who lived in nuragic communities, as indeed, itineraries to know the Mediterranean forest, the Biosphere, the Museum of Astronomy and finally the Planetarium.
The town of Barumini, next to the Park, is listed in the World Heritage by UNESCO: the presence of the Su Nuraxi area – the nuragic village – is an extraordinary testimony to the historic past of Sardinian, where you can see the civilization of the past first-hand.
Made up of the dungeon, the bastion as well as a fortification built of four towers and curtains, Su Nuraxi complex is also enhanced of the about 200 huts, which make understandable the structure and the organization of the everyday nuragic life.
The Giara plateau is characterized by the presence of basaltic lava ejected from the faults Zepparedda and Zeppara Manna – modelled by the marl and sandstone: it’s a very interesting place from a natural viewpoint, also for its wild horses called “Cavallini della Giara” – literally “Little Horses of the Giara”.
To reach all these places, you can take the SS 197 until the town of Barumini.
